Just recently met a totally awesome guy who I really thought was boyfriend material. He seemed really understanding and supportive of me for my illnesses. Then he asked me this. Needless to say, there will be no second date.

With my Fibro, I need to be sleeping 12+ hours or I’m completely wrecked (even with 12+ hours I’m always exhausted). Unfortunately, my dad doesn’t believe Fibromyalgia exists and insists that if I would only try, I would magically get better. :/

I’ve legitimately described my chronic pain as the dinner scene from Alien happening over a period of months.

I know they’re trying to be polite and start a conversation in the usual manner. And while I don’t want to be rude in return, I’m not exactly in peak condition.

I have fibrocystic breast disease, which I inherited from my mom’s mom’s side of the family. Basically, my boob has a bunch of little, harmless cysts (that can be caused by stress and weird hormonal imbalances). They’re most common in women in the thirties or so. Sometimes they like to be little bastards and swell up and cause a lot of pain in not just your breast, but your back and arm too. They have this nasty habit of pinching my nerves, so when I’m not taking painkillers and things to significantly reduce the swelling, I have the worst pain shooting down my arm in these lovely electrical waves. It makes it hard to get a full night’s sleep, since it takes a couple hours for it to kick in, and then the effects only last four to six hours.

I am so looking forward to the school year.
