I’m narcoleptic, but when I had my sleep study, they didn’t happen to catch a genuine attack while I was wired up. (I had two after they unhooked me.) Consequently, the official diagnosis is idiopathic hypersomnia, not narcolepsy. They are therefore only allowed to prescribe me dextroamphetamine, when we all agree that modafinil would be a lot better.

Hurray for feeling dizzy, zappy, and vaguely drunk!

I hate this. IBS can be a very invasive and embarrassing condition as well. I work with a lovely girl who has chronic IBS - ie. her symptoms never go away no matter how cleanly and carefully she eats. It affects her skin and the stress is making her lose her hair. 

Also, I’m as yet undiagnosed and suspected to have IBD. So I’d really appreciate not being dismissed as “there’s nothing wrong with you” when there quite clearly is, we just don’t know what yet.

Not sure about anyone else but I actually WANT them to find something during the surgery. I don’t want the pain to be “in my head” or be told that they found nothing and have no treatment plan. I’d prefer to be diagnosed with endometriosis and deal with the pain, knowing it’s justified, than be told I don’t have it and feel like I should stop complaining.

And I was admitted on a Tuesday. I had to wait almost a whole week in agony before they did the operation and removed my gall bladder and the gallstones which were blocking my bile pipe. Hereditary spherocytosis sucks.

I’ve applied three times already, and I’ve been told by several different people to just keep trying, because apparently it’s like applying for medical school, those that persist, want it the most.

When someone I know says a family member is going to apply for SSI, I can’t help buy mentally laugh because they just don’t know how difficult it is.
